10'x12' Coop & Barn Plan

The 10'x12' plan can comfortably house 15-30 laying hens and 2 small goats or 2 outside dogs. Expansion options include a chicken run and/or roosting poles.

FEATURES

Five Nesting Boxes

  • Most experts recommend one nesting box for every 4-5 hens. Even if you have up to 6 hens they can all use the same nesting box
  • 5 Nesting Box Outside Access Doors - Easier to collect the eggs every afternoon
  • Accessible from the side of the coop

Chicken Yard Access Door - 1'x 1'6"

  • Allows the chickens out into a enclosed yard or into the optional 6'x12' chicken run that gives them outdoor livable space

Roosting Poles - 15 linear feet

  • Each chicken only requires 1 linear foot of space to roost at night
  • Chickens prefer to roost on a pole at night while they sleep
  • Roosts are mounted 2 feet above the ground to provide safety and shelter from the weather

Self Feeders - Hanging

  • Mounted under slanted shelving in an effort to reduce the possibility of the chickens contaminating their food and water supply with their droppings
  • Feeders hang from a chain so that the feeder height can be adjusted as the chicks grow

Yard Access Door (for goats or dogs) - 2'x 2'6"

  • Allows the animals out into a enclosed yard or into the optional 6'x12' run that gives them additional livable outdoor space

Roof

  • Vented

Rain Barrel

  • The rain barrel is placed under the roof gutter to collect rain water off the roof to provide water inside the barn in the event the barn there is not another water source available
